I hope that everyone had a great time over Christmas and New Year and you are all raring to go on the crafting front! I'm looking forward to seeing some people I haven't seen for a while.

Theme for the evening

The theme for this month is "Easter" making new cards/projects out of old card/projects, just think of all those old Christmas cards you can use up or you can just bring along anything that you wish to do.

If you don't fancy doing any crafting at all, just come for a cuppa and a natter.

Other crafts

Don't forget, you don't have to do card making or scrapbooking to join in the fun of Derby Dabblers. If you knit, make jewellery, crochet or anything else please feel free to come along chat to everyone there whilst doing the crafting of your choice.

The price for the evening will be £3.00 for adults.

Show and Tell

Please bring along any cards, scrapbook pages or anything else that you may have done recently as everyone loves to look at what has been created but, be warned, you may need to tell everyone how you made it.

For Sale or For Swap

If you have any crafting items that you wish to sell or swap for something else, you are most welcome to bring them along to see if anyone on the night may want to purchase/swap with you.

Freebies

If you have any items that you no longer use and they are taking up valuable space in your crafting area, please bring them with you on Friday night. There will be a FREEBIES table where you can put your unwanted items and I am sure that there will be others there that may be able to use them.

If you know of a local school/nursery or charity that may make use of anything left on the table at the end of the evening, you will be welcome to take them along.

If you are thinking of coming along for the first time please do come and join us. It is a wonderful social evening, everyone is very welcoming and I am sure you will have a great night. Just one week to go and its Derby Dabblers first 2012 get together. Friday 3rd February 6.30 - 9.30 at St. Martins Church Hall, Allenton, Derby. Scrapbookers, Cardmakers, Knitters, those that like to cross stich, make jewllery etc. etc. everyone welcome. The theme for cardmakers and scrapbookers for the evening will be numbers. As usual, you dont have to follow the theme, just come for a cuppa and a natter. Price for the evening is £3.00 adults, £2.00 for the youngsters.Hands up those that will be going. Where has the time gone - life has been sooooooooooooo busy this last week. I said at Spondon Dabblers that I would organise a coffee get togther before Christmas (to give Tracey a rest) but haven't done so & then realised I hadn't got everyone's e-mail address and Christmas is nearly upon us!!

What about meeting for coffee in the New Year? When the razamataze has settled down and we all come back to earth with a bump.

Has anyone got any good ideas? Findern garden centre looks like a good venue or has anyone got another venue in mind?

Hi Ladies
I hope that everyone is well and are well on the way to completing their Christmas shopping!!! I returned from my hols in Florida just over 2 weeks ago and I am sorely behind with mine & as we had glorious sunshine I'd quite forgotten how dull. grey, cold and overcast England can be as we had bright days and sunshine every day for 3 weeks.
Are you ready for Spondon Dabblers this month? I hope you are as I'm looking forward to seeing everyone. We will be having little fuddle along side crafting so if everyone coming could bring a bit of something with them e.g. crisps, cakes, quiche etc.. It will mean we all can have a little nibble of something and our last craft night of the Year will go with a swing!!!

Derby Dabblers Fuddle

Last week was the Derby Dabblers Christmas Fuddle. Fantastic turn out with lots of chatter in the room and quite a bit of creativity too.
First of all, here are a couple of photos of all the wonderful food that everyone brought with them, there was enough to feed an army.

So much home baking too and it was scrummy.
Cards were handed out, people caught up with whats been happening over the last month and there were cards made, colouring in done and quite a bit of stamping. I think that the group of ladies that made the following animals were really productive
Diane came armed with her Stampin Up owl punch and had a play. Fantastic penguins, rudolphs, snowmen, cats and owls.

There wont be a Derby Dabblers meeting in January, which is usual. Our next get together will be Friday 3rd February.
BIRTHDAY LIST - I have been asked to resurect the Birthday List. If you would like to join this, the idea is

you let me know when your birthday is, along with your home address.
I shall announce on here the birthday for the next month.
I shall let everyone on the list have a copy of it so that they have all the addresses.
All those people on the list will make and send a card to the birthday girls.

It will run for the whole of 2012 and we shall see how we go on.

CAKERERS - Could I have some volunteers for the February, and future, months please.

There wont be a get together in January as the hall is always booked out for the Drama Group so this will be our last get together for 8 weeks. It would be really great if you could come along, even for an hour to say hello to everyone and its a great opportunity to pass on Christmas cards.

We usually have a secret santa but that wont be happening this year but, as mentioned above, if you have anything you dont use anymore, please feel free to bring it along and pass it on to someone who may be able to use it.

I have had a word with the caretaker of the Church Hall and she has told me that there is a problem with the light outside the entrance door. I shall bring a torch with me on Friday as it is very dark, if you want to bring one too, please do. I am hoping it will still be light enough when we all arrive and I am happy to walk people to their cars at the end of the night, with my torch, that will scare the kids. I have also been shown how to turn the heating up.

Good morning Ladies

Well what a change in the weather from last weekend. I think the summer has finally left us.

Last night was our Derby Dabblers in Allenton and it was a great night. I caught up with lots of people who I'd not seen for ages. We also made a 'bag in a box' which was really very easy to make and is just the ticket for putting a present in. I know I am a bit quick in sending out information for Spondon Dabblers but I thought I'd do it whilst I had a bit of time

DERBY DABBLERS 7th OCTOBER

Dont the first Fridays of the month come round quickly. Its hard to believe that its nearly October.

We are meeting up again on 7th October at St. Martin's Church Hall, Flint St, Derby. The theme for the evening will be halloween so that means bats, witches, brooms and everything else associated with it for both card makers and scrapbookers. As usual, you dont have to follow the theme, just bring your current projects along to finish or maybe start something that you have been holding back on for a while.

There will be a demonstration on how to make a bag in a box. The demonstration will start at 7.15p.m. To make the bag in a box (something I have wanted to have a go at for ages), you will need the following items:

Cardstock for the base 4 1/2" x 4 1/2"
A scorer (scorepal or hugie) or a ruler and an embossing tool
Bone Folder (if you dont have one I am sure you can borrow one on the night)
Strong sticky tape - preferably the red one but I dont think that wet glue will be easy to use on this project
patterned paper 5 1/2" x 11"
card that matches patterned paper 11" x 1"
A border punch (I will bring mine if you dont have one)
Bits to decorate your bag
Ribbon to tie it up with
Tab punch if you have one and some card to make tabs, preferably the same as your 11"x1" (I shall bring my punch with me).

The price, as usual, is £3.00 per person and £2.00 for teenages. Dont forget your mugs, badges and anything you have made recently to show everyone.

Three of a Kind

Well Friday at Dabblers was a great night. I made 3 cards and had a wonderful time using a brayer for the very 1st time. I never done it before but I’m certainly going to buy myself a brayer & do more & since Friday I keep taking a peek at U tube looking a brayer demo’s – think I must be hooked!!!!

I was very lucky as Tracey lent me hers for the evening. Brenda gave us a demo using a brayer and Liz was really positive when I thought what I’d done was rubbish – she showed me that is wasn’t. So thank you Liz for being so positive.

I haven’t made the brayer card into cards yet but we will do soon and then post them on the blog. But in the interim here are the cards I made on the night.

Well hope you have all had a great weekend. I’m off to ice a birthday cake for Cameron’s party today. This is my 3rd of the week

I am sorry this is a bit late but as you can imagine, life is rather hectic at the moment.....peace will soon be restored in the Anthony household as Christiana returns to Cyprus on Friday and Paul will be working away as from Saturday.

October Cake Decorating Class
It will be a normal crafting class in October as the majority of votes were negative. However, for those that would like to attend one

If you would like to attend one of the card making classes that I run, £6.00 for at least 2 cards, refreshments, cake, project sheets etc.
there is one space available on Tuesday 9th August and 2 spaces on Thursday 11th. Just drop me an email to let me know if you are interested.

Last Night

There was a great turn out for the Spondon Dabblers last night sadly I forgot my camera so cannot post any pictures of cards that crafters made. I'm really annoyed with myself as there were some great cards made. There was lots of chatter and I met several new crafters which was lovely.

Tracey popped in briefly about 8pm - but due to her wedding next week and being very busy she was unable to join us for the evening.

I am really pleased that crafters are able to attend as it's such a nice venue and because it is well subscribed we have been able to reduce the price to £3:00 which is a bargain for a night of crafting. Despite Tracey giving me instructions of how to put information in the side bar - I still can't manage it - sorry.

I did demo the buckle card sadly I have no picture of those made :( but those that joined in appeared to enjoy making them. I will make sure I remember to take my camera next time.

Technique:
I am hoping that Anne will demonstrate distressing techniques - so if you want to have a go please bring some ink, daubers, files card stock etc to have a 'play' etc.

'Belt Card' demonstration
please bring along the following:
A4 card stock (cut in half one half to make the card the other may be required for matting and layering)
DSP that co odrinates with the card stock
small piece of white card stock
ribbon that co ordinates with card stock
paper trimmer
corner rounder punch
word window punch (SU if you have one)
scallop oval & oval punch
piece of card stock for the insert
something to decorate front of card eg a stamp of topper of your choice

A fellow cafter, Maggie, had a major sort out of all her crafting items and I mean major. She kindly donated all these items to all the members of Derby Dabblers. As a thank you, this card was made and we all purchased a massive bouquet of flowers, to say thank you.

I took these round to Maggie who was so surprised and she has asked me to pass on her thanks to everyone.

I was sooooooooooo looking forward to coming but I really wasn't well although I am improving now.

First Spondon Dabblers Get Together

Last night was the first get together of the Spondon Dabblers and it was a lovely turn out. There were 9 of us and I know I had a great evening, hopefully everyone else did too.

Unfortunately Lesley wasnt able to make it as she is poorly and Lesley was going to show everyone how to make a pink cocktail card so with a bit of last minute dashing around, cutting out and a quick practice, I was able to understand how to make the card and showed everyone how to do it.

Pink Lemonade Card Demo 17th June

Ladies
for the pink lemonade card you will need:

1 A5 piece of card ( I will be using melon mambo)
1 piece of white card to mat on the from
1 piece of white card for the insert
white vellum card 3 1/4 " x 3 3/4
glamour dust (or fine glitter)
glue
very sticky double sided tape
1 3/8" circle punch
pink ink pad ) I will be using colours melon manbo and daffodil delight
bright yellow ink pad )
daubers to ink the reverse of the vellum
Tart and tangy stamp set
scraps of white card & and a a thin piece of card the same colour as the A5 piece
edge punch if you want to decorate the back edge (optional)
post if circle 1 3/8" for masking

They were taken at the last Derby Dabblers get together. Everyone had a lovely evening and here are most people looking through their bags. We had a wondeful donation of crafting goodies from Maggie, so a big thank you from us all.

A new venue

As you are all aware we used to meet on the 3rd Friday of the month at Arena at Ilkeston but sadly we didn’t get enough Dabblers attending to be able to pay for the room.

Anne has managed to book Spondon Village Hall on this 3rd Friday of the month so we are going to launch the

‘SPONDON DABBLERS’

for those who want to come twice a month or for those who can’t make the 1st Friday at St Martins at Allenton. Here are a couple of pictures of the room. Those who went to the ‘Stamping Sunday’ on the last Sunday of May will know that the room is a nice one.

The dates for the rest of the year are as follows: June 17th, July 15th, August 19th, September 16th, October 14th, November 18th and December 16th.

The group will run from 18:30 – 21:30 and tea and coffee will be provided but bring your own mug please.

Derby Dabblers 3rd June Get Together

Friday 3rd June 6.30 - 9.30 we shall be meeting up again for our June Derby Dabblers get together. The cost of the evening will be £3.00 per person (teenagers £2.00).

Theme for the night
The theme for this month is nautical. As usual, you dont have to follow the theme, you can bring along your own project to startor finish. Dont forget, if you just want an evening without crafting, that is fine too as there are so many people to sit and chat with that I am sure you will still have an interesting night.

Show and Tell
Please bring along any cards or scrapbook pages or anything else that you may have done recently as everyone loves to look at what has been created but, be warned, you may need to tell everyone how you made it.

For Sale or For Swap
If you have any crafting items that you wish to sell or swap for something else, you are most welcome to bring them along to see if anyone on the night may way to purchase/swap with you.

Cakerers
Debbie Fletcher offered to be the cakerer for the evening, is there anyone else who would like to help out on this night as well? If Debbie cant make it, please let me know so that I can see if there is another person who can take your place.

Demonstration
Brenda will be giving us a demonstration on how to get a crackle effect and use up those old Dulux tester pots everyone has hanging about!

What is needed:

2 tester pots of emulsion paint, contrasting colours (i.e. dark brown & cream)
cheap PVA craft glue
paintbrushes
heavy card, chipboard, or a craft item to be decorated
If anyone has a heat gun, can you bring it along please

Badges, drinks and mugs
We are having quite a few new people join us again so it would help if we can all try to remember to wear a badge with our name on and dont forget, if you want to bring your own mug for your drinks you can, I know that there is a limited supply in the cupboard.
If the guardians of the teenages can let me know what the youngsters would like to drink, I can make sure that we have something available, very remiss of me not to think of this before, sorry.

Hi Ladies

When I first started going to Dabblers every so often we had a 'Stamping Sunday' which was held at Chellaston and organised by Tracey. But alas the room became no longer available and then we could not find an alternative venue and sadly the stamping on a Sunday was no more. It was great fun and I learn't loads & loads & loads from crafters like Pauline Tracey Sandra Jackie Jayne Karen just to name but a few - if I have missed your name out I'm very sorry.

We all used to gather at a community centre bring out own packed lunch and we crafted ALL day - yes ALL day - sheer bliss. Some could only came for the morning some for the afternoon and some lucky peeps came ALL day.

Well we have an opportunity to do this again on May 29th. Anne has found a new venue for 'STAMPING SUNDAY'
Cost:will be: £5 all day what a bargain!!!
The £5 will include tea & coffee for the day and a light breakfast of croissants first thing

Bring you own packed lunch and all the crafty items you will need for the day.
The theme will be 'Any thing goes'
If you would like to come - I will need to know definite numbers as we will need a minimum of 8 to make if viable.

Here are details of the next Derby Dabblers get together this Friday.

WHERE AND WHEN
Friday 6th May at St. Martin's Church Hall, Flint St. 6.30 - 9.30 and the cost is £3.00 per person

THEME FOR THE EVENING
The theme for the evening is MASCULINE... oh I can hear the moans and groans already. Not a lot of people like to do masculine projects as they arent pretty enough but, others enjoy making them. Don't forget, you don't have to follow the theme, you can bring along any project to start/complete and that's for cardmaker's and scrapbooker's alike.

QUICK DEMONSTRATION
Last month (or was it the month before), I sent a sheet of paper around the tables to see if someone would like to demonstrate at one of our get togethers. Well can I find this list? I have searched high and low to no avail so for this month, I will show you how
to make a little pocket card (I don't know it's proper name). If you would like to have a go at this, here are the items that you will need

1 sheet of A4 card to make the outside wallet and the inside pullout
I sheet of contrasting A4 card to do some matting and layering
1 sheet of white A4 card to stamp on, for the outside of the wallet and the inside pullout
Stamps for the images/sentiments to decorate both the outside and inside.
A long length of ribbon
Scissors
Adhesive, colouring mediums, ink for stamping
Something to score the card
I shall take along the stamp sets I have used to make the card in the attachment, which I shall be very happy to let you borrow.

If you would like to do a quick demo next month, or any other time this year, please let me know on the night.

CAKERERS

WHAT TO BRING WITH YOU
Please bring your basic crafting kit, this should include a cutting mat or something to lean your work on, scissors, ruler, pencil and sticky stuff. If
you have a cutter and want to bring that along great but if you don't, there are plenty of other people there that will have a cutter of some sort. If
you are a scrapbooker I am sure that you will bring your card, photos and embellishments. Card makers will bring stamps, ink pads and colouring
mediums. If you are still not sure what to take along, send me an email and I will see if I can help.

THEME FOR THE NIGHT
Each month we have a theme for the evening. You don't have to follow this theme, you can take your own project to start or finish. The theme this month is anything FLORAL

FACE BOOK
Dabblers now have a Facebook group. If you haven't already signed up to Facebook, give it a go. It can be a bit confusing to start
with but its really good fun. You can join the dabblers group and chat to other members (if they are on line at the same time) and you
can read what is happening and when.
Also on Facebook there is a new group called Derby Crafting Marketplace. This is very new but I am hoping it will become popular. Not
many people know about this group yet. Its a place where you can buy and sell crafting items. All you have to do it take a photograph
of what you want to sell and post it in the group page. If you want to purchase something, you just get in touch with the person that
is selling. Its worth a look every now and then

As usual, if you can let me know if you can come along this Friday so I can let Anne know how many are coming. Anne will be looking after you all on Friday night as Pam & I are off to Sir Stamp a lot for a crafty weekend along a few other Dabblers and some that are not.

Let them eat cake

Well Friday saw the 3rd Ilkeston Dabblers of 2011 and there was a magnificent turnout 14 yes 14!! There was lots of crafting and everyone there had a great night as you can see from the pictures.

Arena is a fantastic place to craft as the facilities are great and it’s always warm in the winter – and very near to Tesco’s if you fancy doing your shop afterward.!!!

Anne showed everyone how to make tissue boxes (see below) which are brilliant and I have since made another one at home!!!

These are the ‘let them eat cake girls’. Sue in the middle did a fantastic job of providing cakes for the evening. So many thanks to Sue from everyone.

If you are able to provide cakes for the next meeting please let me know?

Pam also did some lovely images using Penny Black stamps and coloured with Copics

The next Dabblers at Ilkeston will be April 17th 2011 at 18:30 hrs. Further details will be posted out nearer the time. In the meantime keep on crafting!!!

Dabbler at Arena this Friday - March 18th

Dabblers will be meeting on Friday 18th March at Arena Ilkeston at 6.30pm. The cost of the evening will be £3.50 and this includes refreshments and biscuits.

The theme for the evening for both card makers and scrapbookers will be Easter/Spring so please bring along anything with Easter/Spring in mind. Easter is just around the corner Good Friday is April 22nd and surely spring will be with us soon.

Anne will be doing a demonstration using a Hougie board, so bring yours along if you have one to share your tips may be learn a few and above all have fun!!

Derby Dabblers first 2011 get together - this Friday

Derby Dabblers will be meeting on Friday 4th March at St. Martins Church at 6.30p.m. This will be our first 2011 get together (fingers crossed). The cost of the evening will be £3.00 and this includes refreshments and cakes/biscuits.

The theme for the evening for both cardmakers and scrapbookers will be spring so please bring along anything with spring in mind (surely spring is just around the corner isnt it?)

I will be doing two demonstrations, yes two. The first one is a very simple baby card in the shape of a nappy. The second one will be an unusual folder/envelope. Please find a list of all items needed to make these projects.

Nappy Card

One A4 sheet of white card
Pink ink and ribbon or Blue ink and ribbon
scissors
sticky stuff (glue runner, red tape or any other adhesive that you prefer)
scoring tool or ruler and embossing tool
cropodile if you have one but I will have mine with me

Folder/envelope

coloured card 6"x11 1/2" (I have used SU textured)
contrasting colour card 6" X 3 1/2"
2 patterned pieces of paper 4 1/4" x 7 1/2" each
Ribbon to co-ordinate
Scorer, scoring tool or ruler and embossing tool (these are a must but I will have

a scorer with me)

Sticky stuff (adhesive of your choice but needs to be a strong one)
Velcro dots - if you dont have any I will bring extra along and we can split

the cost.

Ruler

Dont forget, if you dont want to make these or if you dont want to doing any thing with the spring theme, you can always bring along your own projects to work on or you can just come along for a natter, coffee/cake and catch up with everyone you havent seen for the last few months.

Christmas Card Club

The Christmas Card Club is taking place again this Saturday at St. Martins Church. There are still quite a few places left if you fancy a couple of hours making some Christmas cards.

This weeks theme is blue. If you scroll down the page you will find a suggested list of crafting items that you may want to bring with you.

There is a young girl who has joined this group (I am sorry but I have forgotten her name). She is just starting out crafting so if you have any items that you think would be appropriate for a 10 - 11 year old, please let me have them and I can pass them on.

Ilkeston Dabblers Meeting 18th February

Hi Ladies
Yes it's Ilkeston Dabblers again on this Friday, 18th February. It's come round again quick. The evening starts at 18:30 - 21:00 and the cost is £3:50. Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided and Christina has kindly volunteered to bring some cakes - many thanks Christina.
The theme for the evening is to be Mother's Day which is on the 3rd of April and time is creeping on. It will be a great opportunity to get those cards started. There are always lots of ideas and inspiration from the talented ladies so dont forget your cameras.
But if you don't fancy this theme just bring your crafty gear along and craft along side like minded people.
There will be a chance to see how to use shrink plastic - so if you want to have a go please bring the following:

some shrink plastic

a heat gun

punches

some pencils or something to colour your shrink plastic with.

Remember you will also need to bring along your basic crafting kit.

Christmas Card Club in February

Unfortunately due to the Drama Group we cant get into St. Martins Church Hall on a Saturday until 12th February. Let me know if you want to come along to a relaxing couple of hours of chatting, Christmas Card Making, tea and biscuits. The price is £1.50 and there are only 8 spaces.
Here are the cards that I have made so far
I apologise for confusing people last month with details of what you need to bring with you to the Christmas card club. I hope that this is a better explanation.

Folded card blanks - about 5 will be plenty for the morning session.

Green (not red as in photo) card cut for layering
White card cut for stamping on

Green card and white card for the inserts

This will give you all you need to make your cards

Add a Christmas Stamp and sentiment for the front of your card
A sentiment or verse for the insert
Ink to stamp with, ink cleaner and a cutting mat to lean on
Something to colour in with

That is all you need and dont forget, other people will take image stamps and sentiment stamps and everyone is happy to share so you could go home with quite a few different cards.

Dabblers cancelled 4th February

Ladies,
At 10.40p.m. last night the caretaker of St. Martins Church telephoned me to let me know that there is no electricity at the church.
Apparently they have had a problem for a few days and although the electrician has been, he hasn’t sorted out the problem. The
electrician was due to go again yesterday but he didnt show up and Sylvia (the caretaker) wasn’t sure when he was going to go.
Now I am sure that we have all done some crafting in some bad conditions but it will be impossible to do anything without any lighting
or heating tonight. Sylvia has said that we can use the hall on another Friday as soon as the electricity is sorted so all I can do is let
you know when this is and see if you are free.
I had received 18 positive replies for tonight and whilst I don’t have room at home for 18 people to sit and craft I do have 18 mugs so
if you fancy a coffee and a chat, you are most welcome to come for a coffee. Jayne has had a delivery of glue runners, cello bags etc. etc.
and I will ask her to bring them round. I had also intended on giving out the Stampin' Up! orders at the Dabblers but they haven’t
arrived as yet. Some are due today and some will be here on Monday.
I cant tell you how disappointed I am and I'm sure that you will be too.

DERBY DABBLERS 4th February CANCELLED

At 10.40p.m. last night the caretaker of St. Martins Church telephoned me to let me know that there is no electricity at the church.

Apparently they have had a problem for a few days and although the electrician has been, he hasnt sorted out the problem. The electrician was due to go again yesterday but he didnt show up and Sylvia (the caretaker) wasnt sure when he was going to go.

Now I am sure that we have all done some crafting in some bad conditions but it will be impossible to do anything without any lighting or heating tonight. Sylvia has said that we can use the hall on another Friday as soon as the electricity is sorted so all I can do is let
you know when this is and see if you are free.

I had received 18 positive replies for tonight and whilst I dont have room at home for 18 people to sit and craft I do have 18 mugs soif you fancy a coffee and a chat, you are most welcome to come for a coffee. Jayne has had a delivery of glue runners, cello bags etc. etc.
and I will ask her to bring them round. I had also intended on giving out the Stampin' Up! orders at the Dabblers but they havent arrived as yet. Some are due today and some will be here on Monday.

I cant tell you how disappointed I am and I'm sure that you will be too.

Dabblers first get together of 2011

This Friday, 4th February, is the first of the Derby Dabblers 2011 meet up.
The doors will be opening at 6.30p.m. for 3 hours of catching up, crafting, drinks and goodies to eat. The cost of the evening will be £3.00.
What are we going to be getting up to this month? Well as its Valentines day the theme really should be hearts and red but it doesn’t mean that its valentines. It can be anniversary, a scrapbook page with some hearts on or even a wedding theme. Don’t forget, you don’t have to follow the theme if you don’t want to. You can just bring along a scrapbooking project or some blank card and get some inspiration from the talented ladies that will be there.
The cakerers for the evening are Christiana and Liz. If for any reason you can’t make it just let me know and I shall see if someone else is willing to organise the goodies.

DEMONSTRATION VOLUNTEER NEEDED Is there anyone that would like to demonstrate how to make a card or a project for the evening? Go on you know that you can. If there is a demonstrator I will send all details of what is required to make the card/project and I will also put it on the Derby.

Can you please let me know if you will be coming along for the evening and if you can get there for 6.30 to help set the tables out, it would really be appreciated.

Ready Steady Goooooooooooo!!

Last night was the first Ilkeston Dabblers get together of 2011 and it was lovely seeing new friend and old. There was lots of crafting and chatter. Tea and coffee flowed freely and Tracey kindly supplied the ‘eats’. The room was ,cosy tosy, – warm as it was a cold night. One of the joys for me at Arena is that you only have to leave the room clean and tidy there is no putting away.

Anne demonstrated and showed us how to make a small box – it looked really complicated but Anne made it look easy & coached us through each stage. Several were made It will take a couple of luxury chocs or speciality tea bags, but Anne very kindly supplied us with a gorgeous fruity smelling bath fizzer to put in them.

As Pam and I left we were wandering about trying to find the letter box to post the room fee through as I’d been told. Anyway Pam told me to get the car turned round and she wandered down the car park to find the letter box which she did. Money safely posted through, off we set to return to Derby. I took Pam and a mystery tour back to her house.

The next Ilkeston meeting will take place on February 18th at Ilkeston – see you all again there!!!!

DABBLERS FRIDAY 21ST JANUARY 2011 at Arena Ilkeston 6:30pm

Hi fellow crafters!!

Dabblers at Ilkeston starts again on 21st January and will run every 3rd Friday of the month. Start time 18:30hrs Please note the new start time of 6:30pm & not 6pm

The cost of hiring the room has increased so the cost for the evening will be £3:50 per crafter. We have to provide our own coffee, tea, milk, sugar and biccies/cakes. If anyone feels that they can bring biscuits and cakes along please let me know as these contributions would be well received. We could then start a rota for these over the coming months.

The theme for the night will be Valentine as February 14th approaches fast. But if you don't fancy this theme just bring your crafty gear along and craft along side like minded people.

Christmas Card Club

Have you had enough of Christmas or would you like to make Christmas cards all year round?

There is a new club starting at St. Martins Church Hall The Christmas Card Club on Saturday 15th January from 10.00 - 12.00. As we shall be sharing the hall with "The Coffee Morning" group the numbers of spaces available will be limited to 8, so you will need to book your place. If there is a lot of interest hopefully we can increase the numbers in future weeks, we will just have to see how it goes.

The idea is that everyone takes along pre-cut card, layers etc. so that you just have to stamp, colour and adhere, going home with finished cards. I am not sure that it is really going to turn out like this but we can try.

Each time there will be a colour theme and on 15th January the theme is red. Please bring with you

card blanks
card that has been cut for your mat/layers, if this is what you are doing
adhesive
colouring mediums (if using watercolour please bring little pots for water)
Ink for stamping
A stamp for the image on the front of your card
A sentiment stamp for the front of your card
A verse/greeting for the insert.
Any ribbons, buttons, embellishments in red.
Cutting mat, scissors, 3d foam pads, tool kit etc.

It is hoped that you will share your stamps with everyone else so that there is a possibility that you could go home with 8 different Christmas Cards. As space is going to be limited, the real challange is to get everything into one little bag....good luck

As the Coffee Morning is on at the same time, we will get asked quite a few questions, people will come over and have a look at what we are doing and there will be children running around. Saturday morning is usually very busy in Allenton and you may find that you cant park your car outside the church but there is always plenty of space outside my house (please dont block Pauls car in though). The price is £1.50 and this includes refreshments and your place MUST BE BOOKED IN ADVANCE. Interested? Let me know.

Hi folks

are you ready yet!!!! for Christmas that is - remember it is ONLY 1 DAY our of 365 other. But we all insist on shopping as though we are entering a siege lol.

I thought I'd just let you know that although we are awaiting confirmation from Arena Ilkeston - but I am hoping that Dabblers at Arena will recommence on Friday January 21st 2011. Further details to be posted in the New Year. Anne Bull has kindly offered to demonstrate a 'favour' type box - details of what is required so you can make it will be posted after Christmas. This box is gorgeous one that Anne made for our SU table at the Paper Max show. It will take 3-4 speiality tea bag, chocs or after 8 mints.

The cost of the evening will be around £3. If anyone would like to volunteer to bring cakes please let me know?

Our last 2010 get together at Dabblers

On my way home from work last night I was really unsure if we were going to be able to have our last 2010 dabblers get together....the main roads were quite clear of snow but the side streets were very dodgy. I got home to a few emails from ladies who were unable to get their cars off their drives and our numbers were dwindling. After a few phone calls fortunately, there were enough of us to go ahead with the evening.
6.30 found us walking up the very dark pathway to open up when THUD, the tea box fell on the floor, two cups broken but the coffee jar, sandras mug and my mug still in one piece....phew. Opened the doors and brrrrr the heating wasnt on. I can tell you....it was cold. Although we put the heating on the room didnt get warm. The fuddle table soon got covered with all kinds of delicious food and the secret santa bag got filled with presents (it was only a small bag).
After a quick cuppa Alyson gave us the template for the cutest little dog and here is a picture of Hanahs card

We ate, we laughed, we sang and then so quickly it was time to pack up, clean up and get ourselves home.....and this is what was waiting for us

more snow. I hope that everyone had a safe journey back home.

Now what you all dont know is..............Sandra and I had a mad few minutes playing in this lovely snow. We got onto our street and it was all pristine, white and not a mark in the snow at all, I danced around with my crafting trolley and made circles in the snow. We wrote in it and even made a few snowballs to throw at each other and......it was warmer out there playing in it than it had been all evening inside the hall.

Thank you to everyone for making it such a wonderful evening and we really missed all of you that were unable to make it. Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Morning Ladies,

Just thought I would let you know that there WILL BE a secret santa this Friday as enough people have replied to make this possible.

For those that went to the last meeting I told you about a letter that we had received from the Church Committee. They told us that they needed to put
the room rate up to so that we were in line with all the other groups that use the facilities. I explained that if this was the case that we would
have to look for other facilities as this increase would probably be out of reach for some of our members, pensions, those on benefits etc. etc.I I received a letter yesterday and
here is a part of it

going at the old rate. It is part of our mission to reach out to the community and support them'.

YEAH I am so pleased that I fought our case and didnt just agree to the price rise. St. Martins does have the facilities we need and are used to
(hot in Summer, chilly in Winter and poor lighting at times) but I am sure that you will agree....it does feel that home to the dabblers.

However, why is there always a however or a but, I will have to sign a contract for a year. Therefore I hope that you will all agree that to cover the months where
there may not be so many of us we will need to have a bit of a kitty. Instead of working out the price each evening I nominate that we have a fixed fee of £3.00 per
night, which is only £1.00 per hour. £3.00 is still great value for money... a night out socialising with other like minded crafters, occasional demonstrations, picking
up lots of tips, refreshments and friendships.

I would greatly appreciate it if you could let me know your thoughts on the fixed price per evening.

Derby Dabblers last meeting for 2010

Ladies,

The next Derby Dabblers meeting will be on Friday 3rd December from 6.30 - 9.30. This will be the last get together for 2010.

Alyson, who couldnt make it to the November get together due to illness will be sharing her template with us and therefore the items that you
had ready last month can be used in December.

As its a fuddle, this means that everyone who attends brings a little something to eat, sweet, savory, spicy, whatever you wish.

The theme for the evening has to be Christmas, a great opportunity to finish off those cards you have started or even to begin your Christmas
cards. There are always lots of ideas and inspiration from the talented ladies so dont forget your cameras.

Does anyone want to take part in a secret santa? You purchase a gift up to the value of £5.00 and wrap it up. All gifts will be placed in
a box and at the end of the evening you help yourself to one of the gifts in the box? Hands up all those that would like to do this.

Can you please let me know if you will be coming along and dont forget, you may need to wrap up warm.

Derby Dabblers Night November 5th

Good evening ladies.

Apologies for the lateness of this email but I have had a rather hectic couple of weeks, this week being no exception.

Its Derby Dabblers night this Friday. 6.30p.m. - 9.30p.m. at St. Martins Church Hall. The theme for the evening is pets, yes pets, dogs, cats, fish, birds
any pet at all. In keeping with the theme Alyson is going to demo her template.

Items needed to make this are

Two Pieces of A4 plain cardstock (or 12x12) to make the template. One sheet of 12x12 or two pieces of A4 patterned paper to cover the cardstock. Maybe some ribbon for his collar or some bling! Also a scoring tool, glue, scissors and some scrap paper if anyone wants to keep a spare copy of the template. Oh and Alyson distressed her edges with matching ink too!

As usual, you dont have to follow the theme if you dont want to, just bring something along to keep you occupied alternatively, there will be plenty
to chatter about if you just want to catch up.

Diane and Tracey are the cakerers for this Friday.

I hope that all those off to the NEC this week have a lovely time. It starts tomorrow and ends on Sunday.

Can you please let me know if you will be coming along on Friday and it would be great if any of you can get there for 6.30 to help set up.

I have returned from my holiday and what a lovely time we had. I hope that all those that have been away have had a lovely
break.

FRIDAY OCTOBER 1st
Derby Dabblers will be taking place at St. Martins Church Hall from 6.30 - 9.30. If you are able to arrive at 6.30 to lend a
hand with setting up the tables, it will be appreciated.

Anne Bull offered to do a demo for us, wallets/treat pouches and the materials needed to make these are.

Cardstok 7 1/2" x 6 1/4"
Cardstock 8 1/4" x 5"
Both of these can be cut from one sheet of A4

Patterned paper 2 pieces 3 1/2" x 6 "
Patterned paper 1 1/2" x 6"

You will also need a paper trimmer, sorer (or embossing tool and ruler), scissors and Hi tack tape.
I am sure that if you dont have some of the tools there will be plenty of us there who will have.

Sandra and Jackie have organised the goodies to eat this month. If you havent already brought anything scrummy to one of the
Dabblers Evenings would you like to do so in November? If so can you send me an email and I will get back to you to confirm
who will be doing this.

The theme for the evening has to be Christmas - colours of red, green and gold. As usual, you dont have to follow the theme
and you can work on any project that you wish.

Hi all, this friday Sandra has asked me to provide you with a project or two - so I thought I would search the internet and bring you some templates - with halloween around the corner I will bring a cute witches shoe card I made and the template too. Also a tiny "milk carton" template that could be filled with sweeties for your little trick or treaters!! Alyson has a sweet scottie dog template which she made into the cutest card and I'm sure she will bring it with her to share with you all! Please bring a scoring tool, ruler and a sheet of card if you want to make the milk carton - also a brad or small hole punch and a length of ribbon (enough to tie a pretty bow).
I will also bring cakes this month too!

We will be having a go at a C D Gift Card for the project this month.

These are all the things you will need :-

5 7/8" x 10" piece of cardstock for CD sleeve

5" x 12" piece of cardstock for cover

Two pieces of 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" cardstock or patterned paper

I am using Bassil spottty card

A 4 3/4" square piece of cardstock or patterned paper

One yard of Wide ribbon

Scoring tool,

Ruler and grid ruler

Tacky Tape, or other strong adhesive

Eyelet hole punch with smallest punch (not Vital)

1/4 “ hole punch

Hobby knife

Circle punch (1" is fine)

Its the papermax show at Moorways. Obviously stampin up wont be there this year as the show is a month earlier than normal. I dont

It is now my responsibility to keep the blog up to date so here we go. We had another well attended evening at St Martins tonight. Pauline showed us how to make a box card which was superb & pictures of it will appear on the blog soon. The next Dabblers in Derby will be the September which Sandra will be organising & letting everyone know the theme for the night, in Tracey's absence.

It was great catching up with people tonight that I'd not seen for a while as due to family commitments and holidays I've not been to a Dabblers for ages.

I have received an email today cancelling our evening on 2nd July. The church hall is double booked. This is really sad as I look forward to the evenings as I know a lot of others do. I shall try to see if it is free the following week and let everyone know.

Silver and Pearls

Not real silver and pearls but who cares they still look beautiful.

I bought the pearls from Reams as I just love those colours the darker one reminds

me of Stampin Up's Sage Shadow, which I will miss when it's gone.

I will have to order some before I forget.

Anyway I threaded 3 pearls onto a jump ring then threaded that

jump ring onto a lik in the chain, I did this about 120 times, but it was worth it.

I do hope you like it.

Derby Dabblers last night

Quite a few familiar faces were missing last night....hope that those away had a great time, those that were poorly get better soon and those that were not able to make it, we look forward to catching up with you soon.

New SU stamps

Good morning Dabblers. This is what I made from my new SU stamp set and it's was for a very dear friend :o)

I don't have many Marveys but I managed brown and turquoise which is quite similar to the colours Tracey use on a card we made at one of her SU parties althought it's a different style card. I didn't want to copy precisely.

Hi all, just thought I would share these photos with you. Alyson came to over for a cup of coffee today and we sat and made cards together (well Alyson did - all I seemed to make was a lot of mess!!) We had great fum and the time flew by! Look at the state of my dining table after we had finished - but Alyson made some beautiful cards didn't she.

What a lovely turn out we had at the March Dabblers. I think I captured everyone on the photos below, unless you were in the kitchen making a cuppa. Quite a few regular faces were missing but we hope to see you again in May.

There wont be a meeting in April as it's Good Friday and there will be quite a lot of people on holiday.

Missed you all last night

I really missed not coming to Dabblers last night as I love to see everyone as the commeraderie is great. But just needed to catch up with myself after a busy weekend last week and then followed by a hectic week at work. All I did when I came home is 'mong' in the lounge lol apart from I did go to French on Wednesday as if I don'r speak French at least once a week I worry that I'll forget it!!! lol

The card is for a man and for those of you who've been round a while they will remember that is is similar to a card that we made at Tracey's first SU 'make and take' over 2 years ago at St Martins.

Well hopefully see you all at Arena on the 19th

The last dabblers was a lovely evening, it was so nice to catch up with everyone and, like Lesley, I didnt get a lot of crafting done. In fact here is a picture of what I managed to do in 3 hours.

I was so busy chatting and looking at what everyone else had done. But tonight I have sat down and finished the card.

This must be a first - I started these a Dabblers Friday night and completed them yesterday. Clean and simple design. One of the large flowers is decoupaged but you can't see if from my photography :). What are your opinions?

Newsletter No. 14

A Happy New Year to all those that I haven’t seen or spoken to over the last couple of weeks. I hope that you had a nice Christmas. The snow has been and gone and I trust, is not about to return. Unfortunately the last Ilkeston meeting had to be cancelled due to the weather forecast, which was a shame.

FRIDAY 5 FEBRUARY

Derby Dabblers get together at St. Martin’s Church Hall in Allenton. 6.00 – 10.00. The theme for the evening will be a colour one Red or Pink along with Black or Brown. Stamping,

Scrapbooking, cardmaking anything at all with these colours.

FEBRUARY CAKERERS

Are there a couple of volunteers for the catering for 2010 for the Derby Dabblers. There will be at least 10 get togethers . Would you please let me know if you can help out with either home made or shop purchased treats for the night and I shall compile a list of names, to hand out in February.

FRIDAY 19 FEBRUARY

Ilkeston Arena meeting. Jacquie will be looking after this one and will send out an e-mail separately with regards to the theme for the night. If you would like to be added to Jacquies e-mail list, please let me know.

THINKING ABOUT COMING ALONG FOR THE FIRST TIME

For those ladies, and gents, that are thinking about coming along to one of our evenings, thought I would let you know that Derby Dabblers is a non-profit making social meet up, for crafters. That includes total beginners, very experienced, those in-between, cardmakers, scrapbookers and anyone who enjoys creating with card/paper and all the other wonderful things that are available. At every event the cost of the room hire and drink is split between the number of people attending, so there is never a kitty. The maximum cost is £3.50 but the reality is normally £2.50 - £3.00. It all depends on how many people attend on the night.

Cakes and biscuits are provided by two ladies at each meeting. This will rotate until we have all brought something in.

At the meetings you will always need a name badge (if you remember) a cup/mug, basic kit (cutting mat, scissors, pencil, ruler, sticky stuff etc.) plus whatever else we are doing on the night. We meet the first Friday of each month at St. Martin’s Church Hall, Flint Street, Allenton from 6.00-10.00p.m. You don’t have to be there by 6.00p.m. and you don’t have to stay until 10.00p.m. and the third Friday of the month and the Arena in Ilkeston from 6.30 – 9.30. You are welcome for the whole evening or just part of it.

Can I ask you to let me, or anyone else at Derby Dabblers know that you are coming along so that we can make sure that there are enough table and chairs set out

Our last 2009 Night at the Arena

Got home from work yesterday and finished off the cupcakes for the Fuddle last night. It was a mad dash to get out of the house but phew, I made it. There were nine of us (and the fly) at the Arena and we had a lovely night.

We made a bag, a sour cream container, a party favour and a box with a lovely flower on it. Everyone brought in so many goodies to eat and the Christmas carols played in the background for a while (I forgot to change the CD).

This was our last meeting at the Arena for 2009 and I want to thank everyone for making it such a lovely evening.

Unfortunately I wont be at the next couple of get together's but they will still be taking place. Jacqui has kindly offered to take in the milk and goodies. Hopefully we will get some pictures of the events too.

Cards Wanted for our troops in Afganistan

Shell over at Challenge addicts blog spot is collecting card to send off to our troops out in Afganistan and our USA crafters have been doing this for ages - and I've been looking out for some one that does this in England for ages now I've found someone. The US system is that the cards are available free though the Pardre's - but will e-mail Shell to find out more.

I thought it would be great if everyone from Dabblers could send a couple of cards - so pass the word.

It would make me very happy if we all could support this cause - as you may or not be aware my son Matthew spent 2 tours of 6 months in Iraq and it was an extremely worrying time for our family and the conflict in Afganistan is much worse with troops dying daily.
